Hollywood star Tyler Perry has revealed the real reason he offered Prince Harry and Meghan Markle his multi-million dollar LA home when they quit their royal roles in 2020.
Speaking about his connection to the royals on the US Today show, the actor said he was inspired not by their royal titles but by their romance.
“What I know about the two of them – and I wish the world knew – how much these two people love each other,” he said.
“They found each other, out of all these odds against them finding each other, they found each other.”
Harry and Meghan met in 2016 after being set up on a blind date and fell in love quickly, announcing their engagement in 2017.
“The love they have is really, really moving and I wanted to do anything I could to support them,” Perry added.
“If I don’t have that, what she and Harry have, I don’t want it. That’s really amazing.”
It was his awe of their love that inspired him to offer up his eight bedroom Tuscan-style villa, which was worth more than $4million USD back in 2004 when he bought it.

That was where the couple resided with their son Archie before purchasing their own home in Montecito, Santa Barbara.
“We did everything we could to get this house,” Meghan told The Cut of the property. “Because you walk in and go… Joy. And exhale. And calm. It’s healing. You feel free.”
They moved into the $18.7 million mansion in June 2020, which was described by Variety as a “7.4-acre compound, which is securely tucked away on a private, gated street.”
It includes everything from a spa, to tennis courts and a private playground for their two children, following Lilibet’s birth in June 2021.
Meghan recently revealed she and Perry still have a close bond even after the Sussexes moved out of his property.
“Sometimes, you can tell your life story to a stranger on a plane as opposed to some of the people that are closest to you,” she told The Cut of their connection.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made several influential friends since moving to the US, including the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Mariah Carey.
Meghan was already close with major US stars like tennis legend Serena Williams before she married into the royal family, while Harry has many high-powered connections of his own.
