This week marked Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s two-year wedding anniversary.
And despite so much changing in their lives during that time, a new report reveals the married couple rung in the day in a very low-key manner.
According to Vanity Fair‘s royal reporter Katie Nicholl, LA-based Harry and Meghan spent May 19th “quietly together as a family.”
The friend added the pair were “most likely offline, enjoying each other, Archie, and having some time to reflect on the past two years.”
Since tying the knot at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle back in 2018 in what has been labelled as one of the most progressive royal weddings in history, Meghan and Harry’s lives have changed in ways no one could have ever imagined.
In the months following, extreme scrutiny and tabloid gossip became rife as the couple forged ahead with their royal duties.
The toll it took was clearer than ever – both Meghan and Harry felt a strain that was only heightened as they welcomed their first child, Archie Harrison in May 2019.
This led them to their announcement on January 9, which laid out their intentions to step back from their roles as senior royal family members and commence a transitional period into becoming financially independent.
As they finally settle down in LA, the pair are reportedly still processing everything that has happened.
“I think today they’ll be quite reflective,” the friend told Vanity Fair.
“The last year has been pretty epic and all the changes they have lived through and gone through are huge. They’re in a new country, they’re still relatively new parents, Archie is only one. To be honest they’re only just coming up for air; they’re settling in and working on a clearer vision of what they want for the future.”
With a slew of new projects in the pipeline, including a new charity foundation Archwell – named after their son, the couple are looking forward to the future.
“They are in a really good place. Speaking up and removing themselves from a toxic situation has enabled them to create a life they’ll be able to flourish in,” the confidante explained.
