Prince Harry and Meghan Markle upped and moved to Los Angeles at the eleventh hour amid the COVID-19 health pandemic in March, and perhaps understandably, things haven’t been all smooth-sailing for the couple.

As the coronavirus crisis continues to sweep the world, with lockdowns in place in various countries, the Duke and Duchess, who are barely a month into their life outside of their former roles as senior royals, have been adhering to strict social distancing and isolation guidelines.

That largely means they’re choosing not to leave their house – well, apart from one, rather special reason.

The Duke and Duchess were spotted outside of their house last week delivering food alongside local Los Angeles charity Project Angel.

And it seems the pair’s contribution for the needy came after a tough realisation fell upon the royals when they arrived in LA.

“[Harry and Meghan] felt helpless reading about everything going on and wanted to get out and contribute,” a source close to the couple told PEOPLE.

Another source confirmed: “They only leave their house for charity work.”

Project Angel works hard to help people who are vulnerable and at risk, particularly during the COVID-19 crisis, by delivering pre-made meals to them.

Harry and Meghan were right on board – despite donning protective masks covering their faces, the pair were recognised by several stunned onlookers in West Hollywood, including Dan Tyrell who told WeHoville about his star-struck experience.

“I thought that tall red-headed guy looked pretty familiar, and that girl was very pretty. Then I saw the large black SUVs with the security guards behind them,” he said.

A couple of days later, the pair were again spotted, and this time they were photographed in action.

In the images obtained by HELLO!, Meghan was seen wearing loose khaki trousers by James Perse, a dark long-sleeved crew neck top from Lavender Hill and some Adidas white sneakers.

She finished her look with a cap featuring the Project Angel logo.

As they do what they can in the trying circumstances, Harry and Meghan are quickly making a name for themselves in their new neighbourhood – and for all the right reasons.

They also just announced the new name of their foundation, Archewell, which will work closely with charities (likely including Project Angel) as they forge ahead with their financially independant life.

When the lockdowns are safely lifted, we’ll certainly be looking forward to seeing more of them as they continue their new lives in California.
