Each year the Queen retreats to Balmoral for a summer spent with family away from royal duties – but don’t expect to see Prince Harry and Meghan Markle there this year.
Though the Duke and Duchess of Sussex quit their roles as senior royals back in 2020, it’s been reported that the Queen invited them to join in on her annual summer trip.
The couple was in the UK in June for Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee with their two children, Archie and Lilibet, in tow.
Harry and Meghan returned to the UK in June but have not been back since.

So will they be joining the Cambridge children at the Queen’s country estate this year? Not likely, say sources.
In fact, several have claimed that the Queen never actually invited the pair in the first place.
Page Six was told by multiple sources that “there was no such invite” despite The Sun’s claims that “Harry, Meghan and their children Archie and Lilibet” were on the Balmoral guest list.

The former outlet also confirmed that the Sussexes will be staying in the US over the summer, as they prepare for the release of Harry’s upcoming memoir.
The couple were last in the UK with their children in June, when they attended the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
They came together with the extended royal family for the first time since their 2020 royal exit, though Harry had returned home on two solo visits beforehand.
It was also Lilibet’s first time visiting her father’s home country and meeting her great grandmother, the Queen, for whom she is named.
It’s been reported the Queen did not invite the pair to holiday at Balmoral.

Traditionally the royal family take a break from formal duties in the UK summer, spending time with the Queen at Balmoral or travelling in their own family units.
Meanwhile Harry and Meghan, who no longer carry out royal duties, are living by their own calendar in the US.
Though they make rare public appearances, it’s understood they’re making the most of private family time while their children are young.
