Prince Harry is said to be devastated following the shock death of good friend Jules Roberts, who passed away aged just 37, according to reports.
The Duke of Sussex became friends with Jules while he trained for the South Pole six years ago, while he was a solider.
According to a report by The Mirror, the two men “hit it off” straight away and developed a “mutual” respect for each other.
The report revealed Harry sent a private note to the funeral of his old friend, and according to their source, the death had come as a “real shock” to him.
“Harry and Jules hit it off from the moment they met. Jules helped to train Harry for the polar world,” the source said.
“Harry even spent 24 hours in an industrial freezer to prepare.”
According to another report from Hello!, Jules was found dead on August 5 and was cremated in Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire.
The date of the tragic death aligns with when it is believed Prince Harry was heading to Ibiza with wife Meghan and son Archie for the Duchess of Sussex’s 38th birthday celebrations.
It is understood the trio returned back to the UK on 12 August before heading to Nice, France for a summer break shortly after.
We’re thinking of the Prince and Jules’ family at what must be an incredibly difficult time.
Over the weekend, Prince Harry was seen attending the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final at Wembly stadium in London.
The usually chipper Prince met with players and coaches from various teams involved in the sport, including the Leeds Rhinos Women team, who recently came out on top at the Women’s Challenge Cup.
He also met with players and coaches from the National Year 7 boys champions, as well as the winners from the Wheelchair Challenge Cup Final.
The Sussex Royal Instagram account, the official page of Harry and Meghan, shared some highlights from the day in a colourful Instagram post, as well as a quote from Harry himself.
“Well done to everyone who played in today’s heat! Amazing performances from both winning teams, commiserations to St.Helens and Ireland,” the Prince said.
“Whether you support League or Union, or both, it’s been a great day for rugby overall.”
Prince Harry is an avid fan of rugby, having attended a number of games and taken part in many rugby related events through his work as a royal.
He’s also a keen fan of sports in general, helping to launch the Invictus Games for injured war veterans and army personnel to compete in nine different sports including basketball, volleyball and indoor rowing.
We can’t help but admire the Prince for continuing to shine a positive light on sports with such an inclusive and healthy approach.
