Many rumours have been swirling around the past year on where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are relocating.
The latest? They might be going back to square one, the UK.
They first moved to California after deciding to leave the British royal family and ever since, it seems it wasn’t the right fit.
An unnamed source revealed toOK! Magazine that the decision came from Harry and the destination of their potential new home would be an olive branch to his Royal family members.
“There is a divide between the couple on this issue but they will soon start looking for a property of their own near London, and Harry is very much leading this,” the source said.
Although the move would be a huge step forward in clearing the bad blood between him and the other royals, it’s highly doubtful the Sussexes will be reaching out to the King for a property on the royal estate.
“They won’t be asking the King for a property on the royal estate due to the issue that arose with Frogmore Cottage,” added the source.
“Making use of a small apartment in Kensington Palace from time to time isn’t out of the question, but when it comes to a home in the UK, they will purchase that themselves.”
Author of After Elizabeth: Can the Monarchy Save Itself? Dr Ed Owens has claimed King Charles wouldn’t be opposed to welcoming the Sussexes back.
He revealed to GB News “He is demonstrating he is ready to reconcile and that ultimately, the onus is on them to make a decision as to whether they want to heal the wounds that have opened up between them and the rest of the royal family.”
“The most important thing here is how he is viewed by his own public. The King obviously wants to maintain a positive reputation with the British people. In that respect, the easiest solution is for him to try and maintain and keep hold of the moral high ground. So far, he’s done that. He’s done that by making it clear, sometimes through back channels.”
A source told Us Weekly that the pair have been considering a move since earlier this year.
The first reports claimed the pair were looking to move to Malibu after three years of living in their Montecito.
“They love their life there,” the insider tells Us. “But it feels a bit remote and removed from the city.”
Perhaps it’s not just how far away they are from the city but maybe the rest of his family or just his roots in the UK.
For now, the couple still reside in their California home and haven’t decided on their location.
