We loved seeing Duchess Catherine, Duchess Meghan and Pippa Matthews enjoy their girls’ day out at Wimbledon this week, but while the royal ladies watched the tennis, the younger Cambridges were having some fun of their own.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte were spotted spending some quality time with their grandparents Carole and Michael Middleton, and it sounds like it was a royally good day out!
On Saturday, the two eldest Cambridge children along with the Middletons attended the Englefield Summer Fete at the Englefield Estate, just a hop skip and a jump away from the Middleton family home in Bucklebury, Berkshire.
“They were having such fun going from stall to stall, playing on all the games,” a local villager revealed to PEOPLE magazine, adding: “George did pretty well at the ‘crockery smash’ stall. He looked very pleased with himself.”
While there was no sign of little Prince Louis, the local said of George and Charlotte, “They were so cute, and Charlotte particularly was very friendly, politely saying hello to other children. George was running around, exactly like all the other children.”
This isn’t the first time George and Charlotte have paid a visit to the Englefield Estate.
The two royal siblings played starring roles in their aunt Pippa’s wedding to James Matthews back in 2017 and while the religious service took place at St. Mark’s Church in the village, the wedding reception was hosted at Englefield House, a 16th-century manor on the estate.

The Middletons, who are grandparents to four, clearly love to dote on the little ones and Carole even mentioned how she spoiled the children last Christmas.
In an interview with the Telegraph in 2018, the Party Pieces co-founder said that she loves the silly season so much that she has as many trees in her house as possible, including individual trees in each grandchild’s room “so that they can decorate it themselves.”
Speaking of her family, the Middleton matriarch added, “They come first and that will always be the case, even when I have more me time.”
“I have two lovely sons-in-law and I hope I’ll have a lovely daughter-in-law.”
