New kid on the block! How Prince George’s first day at school compared to Prince William’s

The first day of kindergarten can be daunting for anyone, even little princes!
Prince George and Prince William

Pointing at the colourful mural outside his new nursery and gazing lovingly at his mum with his backpack slung over his shoulders, it looked like Prince George had been doing this kindergarten caper for months!

In fact, it was the two-year-old’s very first day at the Westacre Montessori School in Norfolk yet he had confidence in spades.

Rewind 31 years and it was a different story all together when his father, Prince William, tottered hesitantly into Mrs Mynor’s Nursery School in Notting Hill Gate in 1985.

An overwhelmed Wills, who was three at the time, clung onto Princess Diana’s hand before letting out a shy wave.

After Diana and Charles dropped off their eldest son at the London-based kindergarten, he was said to have settled in and quite “liked it”, according to his teacher Mrs Mynor.

Indeed the difference in Wills’ mood was easy to see at the end of the day when he strolled out with a spring in his step, proudly showing off a finger puppet he’d made.

Meanwhile, it seems George’s big first day went off without a hitch.

“He’s going to be attending part time for a handful of hours per day. Both the Duke and Duchess dropped him off today and it seems all went well,” a source told Hello! magazine.

A tale of two princes: Two-year-old George appeared to be a bit more confident on his first day of kindergarten compared to when his dad, Prince William, started attending Mrs Mynor’s Nursery School in London back in 1985.

The heir to the throne, who was three at the time, kept close to mum Diana. Meanwhile George seemed very excited to be starting his big adventure.

Although a little shy at first, Wills settled in throughout the day.
