A rare glimpse of Crown Prince Frederik accompanied by his son, Prince Christian and his two nephews has been shared with the world – and it’s all for one of their biggest passions.
Yes, after a lengthy period, fans have finally seen these royals reunite for their one, great love – football.
Sharing the picture to the Danish Royal Palace’s official Instagram account, the four boys are seen looking excited ahead of the Denmark v Belgium match.
Pictured from left is Prince Christian, his dad Crown Prince Frederik, and his two nephews, Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix.
The caption was simple: “Come on Denmark!”
And perhaps their excitement paid off, because their national team later won the game, putting them ahead of the European tournament.
The image provided a rare and wholesome glimpse of the boys all together – for much of 2020 the families remained separated due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Frederik’s brother Prince Joachim largely resided in France with his two sons, while the Crown Prince family remained back in Denmark.
From the photo, it’s clear that the family’s bond is stronger than ever.
Of course, this certainly isn’t the only time we’ve seen the Danish royals get passionate about sport.
Earlier this year, Denmark went hard at the Handball World Cup – and you can bet the royal Danes were getting behind their national team.
At the time, the family posted another photo from their lounge featuring three of Frederik and wife Crown Princess Mary’s children, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine as they watched one the games nervously.
In a second snap, the three are seen jumping in celebration.
Over the coming months, we can expect to see a little less of the royals as they enjoy their summer.
Usually, the Danish royals vacation somewhere, as well as staying at their summer residence.
While they’ll no doubt lay low during that time, you can bet if their team is involved in a big sporting game, we may just get another glimpse.
