The Danish Royal Family have released two new official portraits to mark Prince Christian’s 16th birthday.
Shared to the official Instagram page, the eldest son of Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary looks quite the dapper gentleman.
“His Royal Highness Prince Christian has a birthday and turns 16 today,” the caption read.
“The prince celebrates his day with the family, and on the occasion of the birthday, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess have the pleasure of sharing new images of His Royal Highness. The pictures were taken at Herlufsholm, where Prince Christian is in 1st grade.”
The post was flooded with birthday wishes in both Danish and English and fans couldn’t help notice just how grown up the young prince has become.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY HANDSOME PRINCE,” one exclaimed.
“So handsome,” another commented.
“Such a handsome young mum, looks like his beautiful mumma,” remarked another.

Born on October 15, 2005 in Rigshospitalet, the Copenhagen University Hospital, Prince Christian was the first Danish royal heir born since his father in 1968, so there was much celebration.
His name is particularly traditional as in Denmark each king alternates between the names Frederik and Christian, meaning a son born to Crown Prince Frederik would be called Christian.
Christian’s middle name is John – a nod to Mary’s Australian father John Donaldson.
Whilst his grandmother Queen Margrethe II is the current monarch, his father Crown Prince Frederik is the heir to the throne and therefore Christian is next in line.
The Crown Prince and Princess are also parents to Princess Isabella, 14, and 10-year-old twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.
