It seems Prince Harry isn’t the only one playing sport with the kids these days, as footage has emerged this week of Prince Charles skateboarding.
However the video is from his heyday in 1977.
At the tender age of 29, Prince Charles was spending time with some of London’s youth from Inter-Action UK when he ended up joining the youngsters in the skate park.
The group posted the footage on vimeo three years ago, but – in a rare case on the internet – it’s only just gone viral.
The Prince began cautiously, first asking the children: “Do you think it’s safe if I go straight down there and go right?”
“I haven’t done it in such a long time. I have got one of me own,” the heir claimed.
“I’m going to start down here as I haven’t done it in such a long time.”
As he skated down a small slope the kids cheered, encouraging the Prince to have another go.
Always a good influence, Prince Charles claimed: “Had I known in advance that I was skateboarding here, I would of course have brought a helmet and all the other protective paraphernalia.”
Seeming slightly more confident the 29-year-old skated down a steeper slope and caught himself just in time, as the board flew ahead from underneath him.
And if Prince Charles, now 66, feels inspired after seeing this footage, we’re sure he can borrow a board from his grandson, Prince George.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge received a skateboard on Prince George’s behalf while in Adelaide on their Australian and New Zealand tour last year.
So if the royal toddler doesn’t put it to good use, we’re sure his grandfather will.
