It’s a name fit for a King!
After welcoming their sweet baby boy into the world earlier this week, the oh-so-dashing Prince Carl Philip of Sweden and his wife Princess Sofia have finally revealed the name of their newborn baby son.
An official announcement from the Swedish Royal Court confirmed that the mini-royal’s name will be Prince Alexander Erik Hubertus Bertil, Duke of Södermanland.
The majestic name and title was announced by Carl Philip’s father, King Carl XVI Gustaf at a cabinet meeting on Thursday April 21.
The news of the mini-Prince’s name and title came just hours after the first photo was released.
Carl Philip, Sofia and little bub have returned home to Drottningholm Palace shortly after their son’s birth, but not before sharing a snap of their now-family-of-three.
The Swedish royal palace shared the photo of the new parents and their little Prince, revealing that the trio are “doing well” and that mum and dad are “looking forward” to bonding with their child.
The little tyke was born at 6:25pm at the Danderyd hospital in Stockholm and weighed about 3.5kg.
Just hours after he became a dad, the Prince spoke to reporters in a press conference at the Stockholm-based hospital.
When asked if he had cried during the birth, he quipped, “Yes, actually. Of course. Couldn’t stop.”
“For me and my wife, this is obviously a great day with a lot of emotion,” he mused.
“Words cannot describe.”
Congratulations, Carl and Sofia! We can’t wait see more of little Prince Alexander!
