Princess Charlene and Prince Albert have received huge applause from waiting crowds as they presented their newborn twins for the first time in public today.

Standing on the balcony of the royal palace, the proud new parents held their precious twins presenting four-week-old Jacques and his sister Gabriella to the principality.

Princess Charlene, 36, was all smiles as she cradled her daughter, placing a kiss on her forehead. Prince Albert waved to the crowd as he cradled their son.

While this is their first public appearnce, this isn’t the first time the pair have shown off their tiny twins. The couple shared some adorable Christmas photos with the world, just days after their babies were born.

The Monaco twins, who were born on December 10, are the first royal heirs born in Monaco since the birth of their father 56 years ago.

The couple announced the pregnancy at the end of May, and the gender of the twins was apparently kept secret from Albert until their birth.

While Gabriella was the first of the twins to arrive, two minutes earlier then her brother, Monaco’s inheritance law will see Jacques take on the leadership of Monaco.

He will one day become the ruler of the country holding the title of his Serene Highness The Hereditary Prince of Monaco, Marquis of Baux while Gabriella has the title of Her Serene Highness The Countess of Carladès.
