A recently published Church of England guidance, on the topic of “celebrity weddings,” has ruled that ordinary members of the public have the right to attend the ceremony at the Berkshire church of St Mark’s on May 20.
The ruling states that “a marriage is a public ceremony which at the least all parishioners (including those whose names are on the electoral roll) are entitled to attend.”
That means that, by law, all those that fall within the parish of Englefield, which surrounds St Mark’s Church, will be able to attend if they do so wish. And it seems many locals are already gearing up to attend the highly-anticipated nuptials, according to The Telegraph.
A simple loophole could have a huge effect on the upcoming wedding.

However, there is a minor wrinkle. The document maintains that members of the public can only attend the ceremony “as long as there is available seating or standing room unless a genuine question of safety or security arises.”
Our advice? Get there early!
The newly-published loophole surely puts a spanner in the works for the bride-to-be who reportedly adopted the strict ‘no ring, no bring!’ approach to the wedding guest list.
The tactic was even applied to Prince Harry’s long term girlfriend, Meghan Markle, who has been barred from the attending the wedding ceremony but has been invited to the reception later in the evening.

Pippa’s wedding to financier James Matthews will be an intimate 150 guest affair with the reception expected to be held on the grounds of the Middleton Family’s Bucklebury home.
“There’s been a lot of speculation that Pippa would get married at her fiancé’s hunting lodge in Scotland or have a massive bash in London. But she’s a traditional girl and just wanted to get married at home,” a source told The Sun.
“Her mum has been very involved in all the wedding planning and she wants to show off their house to all their friends,” the insider goes on.
“Plus, how can you compete with Kate, who got married at Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace?”
