Pippa Middleton’s father-in-law, David Matthews, is facing claims he sexually assaulted a second woman.
James’ multi-millionaire dad was arrested in Paris last week on charges of raping a child. Now, another victim has come forward, alleging he forced her to have sex with him in the 1980s.
David, a self-made millionaire, went from being the son of a coal miner, to building a second-hand car empire, to earning millions and owning a $7,000-a-night hotel on St. Barts. However, friends have suggested the allegations are part of a “revenge plot.” Still, he could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
A relative reported the first incident, and French national news agency AFP said he faced charges of “rape of a minor by a person with authority over his victim,” according to legal sources. The hotel mogul was arrested by police as soon as he arrived at the Paris Orly Airport on March 27 when he was traveling to Southern France. He reportedly spent 48 hours in custody and was questioned extensively by specialist cops before being taken to the Palais du Justice.
That’s where he was allegedly shown the evidence the court has gathered against him. The Investigative Magistrate also reviewed the evidence and determined that it was enough to charge him. Of the two alleged attacks, one reportedly happened on St. Barts and the other was in Paris.
A spokesman for Mr. Matthews has denied any wrongdoing. “David Matthews categorically denies the allegation and unequivocally contests the untrue and scandalous accusation.”
The Middleton’s own family are no strangers to legal problems, however. Her uncle, Gary Goldsmith was arrested in London last year after he allegedly slammed his wife to the ground during a fight. So far there is no statement from Matthews, James, or Pippa about the horrific situation.
