A month after Duchess Meghan went on a trip to New York with her husband Prince Harry, she has reemerged with a rare casual appearance for Brightly Storytime to read her children’s book The Bench.

In the video posted on YouTube, Meghan is wearing a breezy powder blue button down, with blue jeans and an elegantly styled gold bracelet on her wrist.

Before reading her book, she introduced her illustrator Christian Robinson who she worked with to bring the project to life.

“I asked him to do something special for me and use watercolours, which isn’t the usual medium he works in, but he did it to make this extra special,” she began.

“I hope you love the pictures as much as you love the words.”

She also lovingly revealed her dedication inside the book pays tribute to her husband and their son Archie, who helped inspire the book. Her heartfelt admission speaks to their unwavering bond as a family.

“I wrote this as a poem for my husband and our son, Archie, and then turned it into a book so you can enjoy it too,” she shared.

One special line that stood out was: “To the man and the boy who make my heart go pump-pump,” which details the Duchess’ earnest love for her boys.

The program did not disclose the location of the reading. However, it appears to have been filmed in the backyard of her Montecito home.

The project was released on June 8, and in an interview with NPR’s Samantha Balaban, Meghan revealed the illustrations deliberately seek to represent every family.

“Growing up, I remember so much how it felt to not see yourself represented,” Meghan said.

“Any child or any family hopefully can open this book and see themselves in it, whether that means glasses or freckled or a different body shape or a different ethnicity or religion.”

She also added that her son is a big fan of her book, and he has inherited her love for reading.

“[He] has a voracious appetite for books. Archie loves the book! Now the fact that he loves The Bench, and I can say, ‘Mommy wrote this for you’ feels amazing.”
