There’s no denying Meghan Markle’s Smart Works clothing launch in September was a highly anticipated spectacle.
Not only did it mark the end of her maternity leave and the beginning of working-mum life for the royal, but it was also a milestone moment for the fashion industry.
Indeed, as one of the world’s most influential fashion icons launched her own line of clothing, and on an occasion as glorious as this, things were not done by halves.
At the event, which took place in London’s Oxford Circus on a bright and sunny day, the Duchess was absolutely glowing as she stepped out in her own designs – a crisp white shirt created in collaboration with Misha Nonoo and tailored pants, designed with John Lewis.
The new mum was clearly thrilled to be celebrating the launch of her passion project, which she worked on with charity Smart Works for close to a year.
The event was jam-packed with people from all walks of life, from some of the key designers involved in the creation of the workwear capsule collection, to some of the clients who have benefitted from the charity, which helps women to gain skills and confidence to get back into the workforce.
We all know Meghan has never been one to keep things low-key when it comes to hosting an event.
From her “avo toast whisperer” moment with close pal Daniel Martin, to her lavish NYC baby shower that made headlines the world over back in February, Meghan loves to go big when she’s the one in charge.
That’s why we weren’t surprised to hear that Meghan had once again outdone herself at her clothing launch by gifting the guests with goodie bags filled with items worth hundreds of dollars.
According to a report from Hello!, the Duchess’s event shared goodie bags with guests worth more than AUD $180.
It included some pricey makeup products, including a lip tint by Bobbi Brown and a cleanser. The bag also featured a S’well reusable water bottle and a leather wallet on a strap.
Sounds like a regal lucky dip if you ask us!

There’s no denying Meghan is a very giving person – her work with Smart Works has proved as much.
Along with her fashion designer pal Misha and John Lewis, the clothing collection was designed with British fashion giants Marks & Spencer and Jigsaw.
The five piece collection is being sold on a ‘one-for-one’ basis, meaning for each item purchased, the same item is donated to Smart Works, in order to help prepare their clients for job interviews.
Speaking to the New York Times, Misha said despite the tumultuous transition Meghan has gone through since becoming a royal, she’s still as giving a person as ever – especially when it comes to her friends.
“You may think because someone’s so busy that they’re not there, but that has never changed, how genuinely thoughtful she is,” she said.
In fact, Nonoo added that Meghan still continues her tradition of sending hand-written ‘thank you’ letters to her pals for any good deeds, and she never misses their birthdays.
Sounds like a friend worth keeping!
