Reports emerged on Tuesday that Duchess Meghan had touched down in New York to celebrate her baby shower with her nearest and dearest. And now the royal mum-to-be has been spotted in the Big Apple for the grand festivities.

Dressed in a chic Courrรจges coat, black trousers and nude heels accessorised with large black sunglasses, the Duchess of Sussex cradled her baby bump as she left the five star Mark Hotel in New Yorkโ€™s Upper East Side to go to lunch with her friend and former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer ahead of the shower.

And despite the masses of reporters, Duchess Meghan remained poised as she as she entered a waiting SUV with Department of State license plates.

Following their lunch at Cafe Boulud, Meghan and Abigail returned to the hotel for the baby shower celebrations and it seems that the pregnant royalโ€™s friends have spared no expense.

According to HELLO!, preparations for the royal baby shower began early on Tuesday, with Meghanโ€™s best friend Jessica Mulroney at the helm.

Ahead of the duchessโ€™s arrival, security was upped with barriers secured around the hotel and photographers captured a team of florists delivering hundreds of spring flowers to the venue.

Amongst the orange and yellow tulips, there was an abundance of pink roses- is this a subtle clue that Meghan and Harry are expecting a daughter?

Baby showers are typically something that the royal family avoids, however it is a big tradition in Meghanโ€™s native US.

Royal expert Victoria Arbiter previously told The Sun that since royals are โ€œvery wealthy, a lavish baby shower would be seen as highly inappropriate. Thereโ€™s nothing they canโ€™t go out and buy themselvesโ€.

Duchess Meghanโ€™s trip across the pond has certainly been a busy one. On Saturday, the duchess indulged in some shopping and visited Laduree in SoHo for macarons and tea for a private visit.

A witness told Us Weekly that she and her friend were seen โ€œhaving a lovely time, laughing and talking with each other.โ€

This isnโ€™t the only celebration ahead of Baby Sussexโ€™s arrival though.

According to Scobie, Duchess Meghan will have another baby shower for her loved ones based in the UK when she returns to London after her official royal visit to Morocco with Prince Harry.

The countdown is on!
