The 38-year-old, who retired as a senior royal earlier this month alongside husband Prince Harry, is continuing to utilise their royal Instagram account, which boasts more than 11 million followers.

And she thrilled fans the world over over the weekend when she posted a series of candid, behind-the-scenes images for International Day of Education.

While there were plenty of incredible insights into some of the work she has done in the social education space since becoming a royal, there were two images in particular that caught our attention – and not least because they were from before she became a royal.

New images of Meghan have surfaced on Instagram to champion a good cause.

In two images, a younger Meghan is seen during her visits to India and Rwanda, before she married Prince Harry.

In the first colourful snap, believed to be taken in Rwanda, Meghan wears beautiful long blue dress and scarf as she smiles and helps a young student in a classroom.

In another unseen snap, Meghan, dressed in a crisp white shirt and a pair of jeans, is seen helping women at a work station in India.

More images from the post show the Duchess after she became a royal as well, including a snap of her and Prince Harry’s recent tour of South Africa in October 2019 – Meghan’s pink House of Nonie dress is instantly recognisable!

Another unseen image of Meghan from her pre-royal days appeared in the Instagram post.

In the Instagram caption, the royals brought to light the importance of access to education for everyone.

“The Duchess of Sussex has focused on this both prior to becoming a member of the Royal Family and now as patron of The Association of Commonwealth Universities,” the post read.

“Working closely with CAMA, both The Duke and Duchess recognise the benefit both personally and to society at large when a young girl has access to education.”

The post continued: “Over the years, The Duchess has worked in developing communities, such as in Rwanda 🇷🇼 and India 🇮🇳 , to find the hindrances to girls’ ability to go to school and furthermore to stay in school.”

Meghan has long been a passionate advocate for girls education.

While touring Tonga and Fiji in 2018, the newly minted Duchess delivered a rousing speech about the challenges many women currently face when it comes to schooling.

“I am also fully aware of the challenges of being able to afford this level of schooling for many people around the world – myself included. It was through scholarships, financial aid programmes and work-study where my earnings from a job on campus went directly towards my tuition – that I was able to attend university,” she said in the speech.

This month’s poignant Instagram post from the Duchess also perhaps serves as a reminder that despite the fact she has stepped back from her regal duties, she and Harry fully intend to continue putting time and effort into bringing to light social issues and championing good causes.
