There is talk that Meghan, Duchess of Sussex could be gearing up to launch her very own beauty line in the US following her royal exit last year.

But how much truth is there to these new rumours, and where did they even come from?

Speculation kicked off when it was reported that Meghan and Prince Harry have been getting closer to multi-millionaire Bill Guthy, who co-founded beauty marketing firm Guthy-Renker.

The Sun claims that the couple made several visits to Bill’s California home earlier this year, often with Meghan’s mother Doria in tow.

There have also been rumours that the duke and duchess’ bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview was filmed at his estate.

Bill has worked with several big-name stars on makeup lines, including Jennifer Lopez and Heidi Klum, so he certainly has the experience to help Meghan launch a potential beauty line.

The duchess has also been keeping makeup artist pal Daniel Martin close, taking time to catch up with him while she and Harry were in New York last month.

Daniel shared a photo of the couple to Instagram at the time with the caption: “Though it was awesome spending time with these two the last few days, I truly learned a lot about the inequities the world faces regarding (the lack of) distribution of the vaccine.”

While it appears the topic of conversation was the duke and duchess’ humanitarian and charity work, Daniel has been a makeup artist for years and would be able to provide plenty of beauty insights for Meghan.

Not that the Duchess of Sussex would need too much help; she previously ran lifestyle blog The Tig and has plenty of beauty knowledge herself.

Of course, none of this proves that she has any plans to launch her own cosmetics empire, or even a beauty line in partnership with another brand.

Since moving to the US following their royal exit in March 2020, Harry and Meghan have largely focused on charity and humanitarian work.

Their projects have often been in line with the kind of work they were doing as senior working royals, focusing on issues like equality, mental health and COVID-19 vaccination.

While they have secured several major partnerships that working royals may not have – including deals with Netflix and Spotify – the content of their projects has typically toed the royal line.

Notable exceptions were their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey and Harry’s follow-up documentary series, where he shared more intimate details of his royal upbringing.

Many royal watchers deemed his comments as “unflattering”, some going to far as to say he was insulting his royal relatives.

The prince also has a personal memoir on the way that has allegedly caused concern for senior royals.

Meghan was known to sport more daring beauty looks prior to marrying into the royal family.

Could these ventures be a sign that he and Meghan are ready to branch off into new fields for future projects?

And could that mean the Duchess of Sussex is ready to launch her own beauty line?

It seems like an unlikely venture for Meghan, who tends to focus her work on women’s issues and humanitarian causes, but it’s not entirely outside the realm of possibility.
