It’s not uncommon for royals to emulate each other’s fashion ensembles, and during a recent trip to New York, Meghan Markle took some inspiration from her sister-in-law Kate Middleton.
While stepping out for a date night with Prince Harry, Meghan rocked a black-and-white jumpsuit by Gabriela Hearst.
Royal watchers were quick to point out the stark similarities between the monochromatic number and a gown recently worn by the Duchess of Cambridge.
The 40-year-old and Prince Harry were photographed as they headed for dinner at Locanda Verde after visiting the United Nations to mark Nelson Mandela International Day.
The black jumpsuit, which featured flared legs and a wide white band at the top, was similar to the AUD $4750 Roland Mouret gown Kate wore to the Top Gun: Maverick premiere in May.
While the stunning looks worn by the in-laws bared obvious similarities, Meghan and Kate put their own spin on each ensemble.
Meghan accompanied the strapless jumpsuit with a pair of AUD $1048 Aquazzura strappy black heels and a red Botega Veneta clutch.
The mother-of-two wore her hair in a sleeked-back pony tail and accessorised with a Shiffon 18k gold diamond 1972 tennis pinky ring and 14k gold Duet pinky ring.
Meanwhile, Kate let her long brunette locks hang loose, and instead opted for a more formal box clutch by Alexander McQueen box clutch, Prada heels and a pair of Robinson Pelhamm stud drop earrings worth AUD $18,000.
The fashionable jumpsuit wasn’t Meghan’s only standout style moment from her and Harry’s trip to New York.
At the United Nations headquarters, Meghan donned a chic Givenchy black pencil skirt reminiscent of a similar outfit she wore in Ireland back in 2018, accessorised with a Mulberry handbag.
She was also snapped with feminist icon Gloria Steinem in a pair of smart navy shorts, a white shirt and heels accessorised with a beaded clutch bag.
