It’s no secret that once you marry into the royal family, you’re previous life is all but erased – especially if you are Meghan Markle.
However, royal watchers and “fans” of the Duchess of Sussex lost their minds overnight when her old Instagram account (@meghanmarkle) was suddenly resurrected from the social media grave.
But if you think you can click on the profile and see new pictures of Megs and her husband Prince Harry sun baking in their garden or canoodling on the couch watching The Bodyguard, you would be quite disappointed because it has all but vanished again!
According to royal reporter Omid Scobie, a royal commentator from the US, the re-appearance had nothing to do with the actual Duchess hopping back on and pressing “re-activate” but it was a simple “glitch” in the old IG system.
“For those of you asking, Duchess Meghan is not making a return to Instagram,” he wrote on Twitter. “You can blame a system glitch for her account resurfacing on the app this morning.”
Some “glitch”… and almost a little too suspect if you ask us!

Last year, the mum-to-be shocked fans when she shutdown all of her social media channels including her Instagram account and lifestyle blog, The Tig, just weeks after her engagement to Prince Harry.
This must have been a very hard move for Megs since she had three million followers (and counting), but a royal-to-be gotta do what a royal-to-be gotta do.
So when having a thorough look at the screenshot of her old account, all signs point to the fact that it was indeed just that – an old account.

Firstly, her profile pic is a little too racy for the polished Duchess of Sussex and if she was really re-activating, we’re sure Prince Harry would be front and centre.
Then there’s her old bio: “UN. World Vision. One Young World. Suits. The Tig.”
While she is still a humanitarian, now even more so because of her new role, she is no longer a cast member on Suits nor does she have her lifestyle blog.
And we’re positive her bio would change to something like: “UN. World Vision. One Young World. Duchess of Sussex. Wifey of Harry, Duke of Sussex. Mom-to-be.”
And if it was making a comeback, then we’d be sure to get more photos like this:
This whole mysterious case of the reappearing Instagram account wasn’t the first “mysterious” social media activity to happen within the last week.
In fact, following a surprise appearance at the British Fashion Awards on Dec 11, a photo booth video of the Duchess was curiously deleted off the British Fashion Council’s official Instagram account.
Another image of Meghan was also posted by her long-time pal and stylist Jessica Mulroney, along with the caption: “My angel. Beauty, grace and strength personified.”
And while both images are lovely tributes to the very stylish royal, they’ve mysteriously been deleted from both official accounts… coincidence?
It is thought that the pictures were removed due to the strict rules surrounding the royal family and their public appearances.
It’s no secret that the royals are required to follow some seriously strict (and at times, downright strange) rules.
These include, but are not limited to being unable to accept food from strangers (yep, even tea and scones!) and having a rather strict cut-off period when dining with the Queen.
Indeed, if you’re ever lucky enough to dine with Her Majesty, etiquette dictates that guests and her family members must finish their meal as soon as the Queen has had enough to eat herself – too bad if you’ve still got half a burger on your plate that you’re keen to vacuum up.
What a time!
