When it comes to dating, we’ve all questioned the conflicting social cues before: Who texts first? How long do you wait to call them? How soon is too soon?

Refreshingly, it seems these questions are all to real for everyone – even celebrities and royals like Duchess Meghan!

In a new book penned by royal biographer Andrew Morton, an extract claims Meghan was worried she would come across as “too eager” when she agreed to meet Prince Harry less than 24 hours after their first date.

Meghan was reportedly worried she’d look too keen on the Prince if she agreed to see him straight after their first date.

In the biography, titled Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, the royal love birds were “buzzing” after their first date, with Harry said to be “mesmerised by [Meghan’s] beauty and sophistication”.

The pair met for the first time in July 2016 at Soho’s Dean Street Townhouse after they were reportedly set up by a mutual friend, believed to be American fashion designer Misha Nonoo.

The rest, as they say, is history. The pair went public during last year’s Invictus Games when they were snapped hand in hand and also shared a peck at the closing ceremony. Suffice to say they sent fans into frenzy.

In November 2017 they announced their engagement, and in May 2018 Harry and Meghan became Duke and Duchess of Sussex in a wedding ceremony that drew millions of viewers from across the world.

And while their first face-to-face meeting might have been back in 2016, Woman’s Day reported that Harry had actually had a crush on Markle for a whopping two years before they met!

In a documentary titled When Harry Met Meghan: A Royal Romance, royal commentator Katie Nicholl says Harry had taken notice of Meghan’s character on TV show Suits.

“He had a crush on Rachel Zane two years before he met Meghan and the reason I know is because I was having drinks with one of his friends,” she said.

“She [Harry’s friend] told me she’d been on a night out with Prince Harry. He was single at the time, so she said, ‘Harry, who’s your ideal girl?’ And he said ‘Meghan Markle from Suits‘.”

In the biography, Morton states the couple were “mesmerised by one another” and that Meghan saw Harry as “a man, not a title”.

Morton has also penned a biography for Princess Diana, who he secretly interviewed for the book titled Diana: Her True Story. The book caused plenty of controversy when it was released in 1992 for its detail around her marriage to Prince Charles, his affair with Camilla and her mental health issues.

Royal biographer Andrew Morton also wrote a controversial biography on Harry’s mum, Princess Diana.

Meghan has had to come up to speed with a number of royal protocols since she entered into the British royal family. For one, even her own signature has changed with her royal status.

In March, the 37-year-old signed a guest book at the Titanic Belfast Maritime Museum. Her signature, which sat below Harry’s, is somewhat hard to read.

However, on a recent visit to Sussex with her now-husband in October, Markle’s signature in the visitors book was much neater and refined.

Furthermore, Meghan is reportedly taking lessons to perfect the Windsor wave, a tradition whereby royals must wave at members of the public during royal engagements.

Royal Butler Grant Harrold observed Markle was struggling at the specific technique the royals used back when they announced their engagement.

“When she greeted press photographers on the day the engagement was announced Meghan’s wave was somewhat clam-like, with her fingers rapidly opening and closing against her palm,” he told The Daily Express

“However, the wave we saw on her wedding day is that more fitting of a royal. It was graceful, dignified, elegant and similar to the wave we would expect of members of the royal family.”
