If you cast your minds back to September last year, you might remember a certain issue of British Vogue hitting the stands.

The issue was a breakthrough of its kind, featuring the faces of 15 women who were striving towards creating a greater good and “united by their fearlessness in breaking barriers,” as per a statement from Buckingham Palace.

Behind this was none other than Meghan Markle herself, who injected her own passion and drive for positive change – particularly in sustainability and social causes – throughout the issue.

Meghan made history by being the first ever guest editor of British Vogue‘s September issue.

Now, after British Vogue editor Edward Enninful shared an incredible update related to the groundbreaking issue, we’ve been treated to a new video that delves into the brains behind it.

Taking to Instagram on Friday morning, Sussex Royal shared a clip of Meghan and Edward as they were in the preliminary stages of creating the issue.

The caption highlighted the achievement, sharing a quote from Edward: “The Duchess of Sussex @SussexRoyal, was our fastest-selling issue in the history of #BritishVogue ( sold out in 10 days) and the biggest-selling issue of the past decade. I can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store…””.

Continuing, the royal account wrote: “To celebrate, we wanted to share this never before seen video behind the scenes with Edward and The Duchess of Sussex on the creation of this special issue,” before confirming that the clip itself had bee filmed in August 2019.

The video begins with Edward detailing his first meeting with Meghan, which was initially set up to discuss Smart Works, a women’s charity which supplies work clothes to women in need.

“There we were, having tea,” Meghan said in the video.

Edward then playfully admitted that he’d said to the then-pregnant royal, “lovely to meet you Duchess”.

“But I left the fashion stuff to the professionals!”

“And I’ll leave it to the experts!”.

The magazine also delved into some of the various initiatives worked on by both Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan.

The Duchess’ Smart Works fashion line was detailed in a stunning feature spread, and the Luminary Bakery, a London social enterprise which Meghan has worked closely with since becoming a royal, was also featured.

Prince Harry also made an appearance in the magazine, with a candid discussion alongside British anthropologist Dr. Jane Goodall, where the pair spoke about sustainability and climate change.

Laden with information intended to drive change for the better, the magazine’s incredible sales figures certainly gives us hope that good news can go far – even in the most unexpected ways.
