When it comes to Meghan Markle, there’s no denying her influence on the masses.
From setting the fashion agenda, to sharing her passion for social causes, the Duchess of Sussex is a force to be reckoned with, and the royal family is sure to reap the rewards.
But there is one little snag that Meghan has encountered, and it was with something a little unexpected…
The situation at hand involved none other than a banana.
Yep, you read that right. When Meghan and Harry visited Bristol shortly before she gave birth earlier in 2019, the Duchess helped to prepare food parcels for women who were receiving support from organisation One25.
At the time, Meghan wrote messages on the bananas, with phrases like “You are brave”, “You are strong” and “You are loved”.
And while the messages themselves might read as empowering to some (as they were intended), the move was met with heavy criticism from media and even the women themselves.
At the time, one sex worker spoke out about Meghan’s message, telling The Sun that it was “really stupid”, saying: “People out here struggle to eat and sleep and she gifts us some words on a piece of fruit.”
“She has the means to help us more than that. It’s offensive, you know?”
PR guru Nick Ede has also weighed in on the move, telling British publication The Express: “There is nothing that is wrong in her, apart from maybe writing on bananas.”
That being said, Ede insists that was the only questionable thing Meghan has ever done, even going so far as to claim that she’s “too good” for the royals.
“She ticks every single box, from the way that she looks to the way she thinks and speaks.”
The PR expert said he had worked with Meghan on undisclosed projects, and he even put her forward when she was relatively unknown as the co-host of the London gala.
It’s almost like he knew!

Meghan hasn’t been shy of criticism over the past few months, especially in the lead up to the birth of her and Prince Harry’s first child, Archie.
Her decision to keep things around the birth private was met with some backlash – especially her decision to evade the traditional hospital photo call.
Unnamed royal sources also came out to say Meghan had been branded the nickname “Duchess Difficult” by Palace staff.
But with all that being said, there’s no denying the birth of Baby Archie has put Meghan back onto the golden shelf for many – her dazzling family debut with the newborn and Prince Harry in Windsor was enough to capture the whole world’s attention.
As for Ede, it seems she’ll always be a model royal in his eyes – so long as she stays away from bananas!
