As her due date edges closer, the Duchess of Sussex has made it abundantly clear she’s shunning royal childbirth traditions.
Now it seems Meghan Markle also has some very specific lifestyle choices in mind for her baby once it’s born.
“Meghan wants her baby to be raised a vegan,” reveals a palace insider.
But according to royal sources, the Queen is outraged by the 37-year-old’s latest New Age notion.
With Her Majesty, 92, well-known for her love of hunting – it’s been the palace’s prized sport for hundreds of years – bringing up a child in the Windsor household who eats only plant-based foods really goes against the royal grain.
“The Queen won’t have it,” a source tells Woman’s Day.
“It’s created tense discussions between Meghan and Harry, who doesn’t want to upset his grandmother.
“He’s hoping Meghan will settle once the baby comes and he’s putting this latest polarising idea down to heightened emotions while being pregnant.”
The source continued: “Meghan keeps pushing the boundaries with the royals and it’s not being well received, least of all by HM.”
“Meghan seems to have little regard for royal traditions but bringing the baby up as a vegan simply won’t be tolerated by the monarch.”
The soon-to-be mum has already made many heads turn for her less-traditional approach to her new baby’s nursery.
Harry and Meghan officially moved into Frogmore Cottage in early April, where it is understood a gender-free “vegan” nursery was created for their new baby.
Vanity Fair‘s Kate Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight that the nursery was going to be “very modern”.
“Apparently, it’s going to be a monochrome palette — whites and greys, I’m told, will be the colour theme for baby Sussex’s nursery.”

Meghan’s un-royal birth plan
It’s rumoured the duchess is ditching royal tradition in a number of ways.
She plans to give birth in the public-funded Frimley Park Hospital, closer to their home at Frogmore Cottage, instead of royal favourite St Mary’s Hospital Lindo Wing.
She’s also hiring a doula instead of a midwife and plans to engage her lifelong practice of yoga to help during labour, too.
With that being said, it seems the Queen will have the last say when all is said and done – so stay tuned, things could be a-changing for Meghan before long.
