The new trailer for the highly-anticipated Netflix drama The Crown, which documents the life and times of the British Royal Family, has finally been released and Matt Smith (pictured on the right, next to the real Prince Philip who is on the left above) could be mistaken for Prince Philip.

The 33-year-old, who rose to fame playing the eleventh doctor in Doctor Who, looks unrecognisable as he plays Queen Elizabeth’s husband.

In the trailer Matt dons the Duke of Edinburgh’s trademark slicked-back hair, surly expression and army medallions.

Meanwhile English rose Claire Foy delivers the lead role of Queen Elizabeth with gusto.

The Crown is set to be released later this year.

No word yet on whether the real Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip will be tuning in but something tells us they might not be able to resist.

And there’s no shortage of drama in the four-minute teaser, either.

Everything from the Queen’s relationship with the then-Prime Minister Winston Churchill to the nation’s perception of a female monarch taking the throne will be explored.
