Kensington Palace is in shock after a man set himself alight and died outside the palace reports 9News.
Officers were called to Prince William and Kate’s home early Tuesday morning after somebody reported a man behaving suspiciously.
When authorities arrived the man was ablaze, and despite efforts to save him he died at the scene.
The man is believed to have been the same man who was reported missing from a Central London hospital just hours before the incident.
Police are not treating the episode as suspicious.
A royal family spokesperson confirmed that Kate and William were not at the palace at the time as they were staying at Anmer Hall in Norfolk.
