Liza Minnelli is known for many things – a keen eye for acting, with added singing prowess, as well as single-handedly being one of Hollywood’s most recognisable names.

And recently, another affiliation was seemingly added to the star’s list – friend of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan.

Of course, one doesn’t receive these affiliations lightly – this is the Duke and Duchess of Sussex we’re talking about. The pair who have made headlines for their independence and outspokenness (by royal standards at least), not to mention their famous step back and move to Los Angeles recently.

Liza is no doubt aware of all these things the pair have bravely done, but even so, apparently when there’s no smoke, there’s definitely no fire in this actress’ book – because she’s just set the record straight on the latest rumour.

In a surprise statement, Liza responded to a news article from The Sun, which claimed that she was helping Prince Harry “find his feet” as he settled into LA.

Sharing the link to her Facebook page, the 74-year-old wrote: “While I wish them well, I have never met Prince Harry and Meghan. Any statement to the contrary is a complete fabrication.”

The report itself claimed that because of Liza’s known closeness with Harry’s mum, Princess Diana, she had therefore reached out to Prince Harry to help him during what was undoubtedly an unsettling time.

While it seems patently clear there is no truth to these claims, Liza’s friendship with Diana was pure.

She previously spoke of her relationship with the late Princess.

‘I was first introduced to her when she came backstage after a concert I did in London.”

“We’d bump into each other at premieres or events where she’d be the guest of honour. We’d fall into conversation then we’d meet for tea. My instinct was to protect her. We talked about everything under the sun. She loved music,” Minnelli told The Telegraph.

“I was lucky enough to count Princess Di as a friend.”

While Minnelli mightn’t be on their list of close A-list confidants in LA, they’ve certainly got a plethora of other well-known people who have lent them a hand.

Believed to be currently renting actor Tyler Perry’s Beverly Hills mansion, the pair were set up with the properly via Oprah Winfrey, according to reports.

Furthermore, in May it was also reported that the pair had become friends with neighbouring celeb Adele, who apparently swapped notes with them on the neighbourhood.

“Adele loves the neighbourhood. She’s also recommended her four-year-old son Angelo’s pre-school and discreet places to take Archie where they won’t be bombarded by fans,” a source told The Mirror.

“Meghan and Harry want to see how they get on in the area first before they commit to buying somewhere.”

As for what comes next for the pair, they are currently working on the launch of their brand new foundation, Archewell, which is set to become a base for all of their charity work they have done both in a royal capacity, and outside of that since formally stepping back from their senior roles.

It was revealed in reports this week the couple have delayed the official launch of the foundation given the current circumstances first around the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Black Lives Matter movement, which has swept the globe over the last few weeks.

We’ll continue to await the launch with anticipation, and until then, who knows, perhaps an intro Facebook message to Liza Minnelli might finally be on the cards…
