If you can’t wait until your 100th birthday to receive a note from The Queen, now might be your only chance to get a hand-written letter from Her Majesty.
RR Auction house in Boston has managed to secure a touching Christmas letter penned by The Queen to her grandson, Prince William.
The note is penned in The Queen’s running writing and executed on a Buckingham Palace letterhead.
“William, I hope you enjoy opening this each day,” it reads.
But perhaps the most fascinating element is that it’s affectionately signed off “from Granny.”

It’s believed the letter was attached to an advent calendar and is currently still in the bidding process.
RR Auction’s site describe the item as a “seldom-encountered piece of correspondence from within the royal family, enhanced by its fitting Christmastime association. Originates from the collection of a former employee of Princess Diana.”
Indeed, in the past Prince William has spoken about his enduring bond with The Queen.

“She’s been a very strong female influence and having lost my mother at a young age, it’s been particularly important to me that I’ve had somebody like the Queen to look up to,” the future King of England has mused.
“From a personal point of view, I am privileged to witness the private side of the Queen, as a grandmother and a great-grandmother. The Queen’s kindness and sense of humour, her innate sense of calm and perspective, and her love of family and home are all attributes I experience first-hand.

“All of us who will inherit the legacy of my grandmother’s reign and generation need to do all we can to celebrate and learn from her story. Speaking for myself, I am privileged to have the Queen as a model for a life of service to the public,” the father-of-two explained.
Other items up for grabs include a Christmas card from Prince Charles and Princess Diana, which was gifted to Paul Burrell, who was their butler at the time, in 1985, another Christmas card from 1946 signed by a then Princess Elizabeth and her younger sister, Princess Margaret and a letter written by Prince Edward, before he became King.
