Duchess Catherine has wrapped up a whirlwind 24 hour tour of the UK by visiting Wales and Surrey – within hours of each other.

The royal stepped out in Cardiff at the Ely and Careau Children’s Centre on Wednesday morning where she attended a baby sensory class.

As she entered the venue, she was seen wearing a gorgeous long camel coat by Massimo Dutti. And as if that wasn’t dreamy enough, she whipped it off indoors to reveal one of her most unique outfit choices yet.

The Duchess looked oh-so-chic as she revealed her outfit once indoors – she was wearing a $AUD19 Zara animal print pleated skirt!

She teamed the ensemble with a black polarneck knit and a pair of Ralph Lauren boots.

While at the centre, Kate spoke to several mums, even confessing an anecdote she remembers about Prince George when he was younger.

“I had just had George,” she told them.

“William was still working search and rescue, so we came up here [Cardiff] when George was a tiny, tiny little baby in the middle of Anglesey. And it was so isolated, so cut off, I didn’t have my family around me.”

She continued: “[William] was doing night shifts, so if only I’d had a centre like this…”

Departing the children’s centre shortly after midday, the Duchess arrived a little closer to home back in Woking where she visited the HMP Send, which is a resettlement prison for sentenced women.

The visit was a poignant one for Kate, who had previously visited the very same facility back in 2015.

The Duchess looked calm and at ease despite a hectic 24 hours of travel.

The facility is an incredible progressive place, helping women to build skills, improve their self esteem and preparing them for the workforce in order to give them the best possible chance after they are released.

Kate also made a poignant visit to a women’s prison facility later that day.

Just a day before, Kate visited Birmingham, where she met children, parents and helpers alike at a children’s centre.

The whirlwind 24-hour tour has been held to mark the launch of a nation-wide survey which aims to inform parents and spark conversations about early childhood.

The ‘5 big questions on the under 5s’ survey is a landmark moment for the Duchess – it comes after eight years of research exploring how expierences in early childhood can have a significant impact on social challenges throughout their lives.

In partaking in this tour, Kate has had the opportunity to speak with families across the UK to discover the issues that are directly affecting their day-to-days.

It is expected that as a result of the survey and the Duchess’ findings from the tour itself, she will be able to promote positive, lasting change through her various patronages linked to early childhood.

This marks a rather busy start to the year for the Duchess, who attended a glamorous Buckingham Palace reception at the start of this week.
