Duchess Catherine and Prince William have had quite the fun-filled day after a whirlwind visit to the seaside area of Mumbles, in Wales.

The couple paid a visit to the vibrant township on Tuesday, February 4, where they met with locals, visited various industrial establishments and even stopped by an ice cream cafe.

The pair previously lived around the same area, having spent some of the first years of their marriage in North Wales.

And it was like no time had passed – with nine years of marriage under their wing, the royals looked more loved up than ever!

Kate was dressed for the occasion, wearing a vibrant bright midi-dress from Zara, which was fastened at the waist with a black belt.

She once again proved you don’t need a royal budget to look royally chic.

Kate paired the look with her black Stuart Weitzman boots, a matching red Mulberry clutch and once outdoors, she added a gorgeous Hobbs midi-length coat along with a love heart-adorned red scarf by Beulah London.

How very Valentines Day appropriate!

Visiting a lifeboat operations centre, Kate and Wills learned about how the service helps people at sea in Wales.

Later, the pair did a quick walkabout, where they chatted and greeted hundreds of fans who’d lined the streets for a glimpse of the royals.

And in a rather unexpected moment, the couple then popped into a nearby ice cream shop, where they couldn’t resist a quick taste.

“I am a chocolate man,” William reportedly declared as he entered the shop.

Kate meanwhile opted for a classic vanilla wafer cup.

Wills admitted he was a “chocolate man” while Kate dug into a vanilla ice cream.

Speaking to some young children at the shop, William spotted one of them reading a children’s book called Room On The Broom, to which he revealed that he himself reads the story to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis “all the time”.

Wills spoke about his own children as they sat with some local families in the ice cream store.

Kate then had a serendipitous moment, when she bumped into her former primary school teachers outside the ice cream shop.

The Duchess’s former netball coach, along with her former French and German teacher, were also in the area by chance.

According to HELLO!, she told them that she hoped to “instil in my children” what she had learnt at the school.

Speaking to the publication following the chance run-in, one of the teachers, Mr Alford, said: “We saw her once when she came back to school, when she was 14, and we haven’t seen her since. Obviously, we’ve been following her career. She was in such a wonderful class of girls and they got on so well together.”

After the fun-filled ice cream visit, the pair then travelled to a steel plant in Port Talbot.

Known as the largest steel plant in the UK, the royals learnt about the vital role it played in the local industry.

As their final engagement for the day, we can only imagine that the royal couple would have been well and truly exhausted.

And perhaps their outlook after visiting their former home might be a little different now – we’re sure George, Charlotte and Louis would have enjoyed being reunited with their parents that evening, and perhaps were even treated to a quick read of their favourite book before bed!
