Duchess Catherine and Prince William might be busy working royals with three children to raise, but they still find time for each other.
The royal couple, who have been married for almost ten years, remain more in love than ever as they continue to grow and thrive separately in their roles.
In a new report from PEOPLE, a friend of Duchess Catherine’s opened up about the royal’s life behind the scenes, reiterating how family always comes first.
According to the source, Kate hopes to give her children, Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five and Prince Louis, two, as normal an upbringing as possible – despite being royal family members.
“There are no blow-dries – it’s always hair up in a ponytail,” says the friend.
“She’s either in her gym clothes, or a dress and sneakers, very little makeup, apologising as she’s late for the school run before dashing off. It’s the life of a working mum with three young children – just a different sort of day job to most.”
And in a sweet additional insight, the friend shared the family’s usual routine when they’re residing at their country residence of Anmer Hall in Norfolk.
On the weekends, Kate is known to take her kids to Mable’s Paint Pot, while she and Prince William also share the odd date night at local pubs nearby.
The report confirms the pair have evolved in their nine years of marriage (ten years in April 2021), and while they enjoy their solo time together, their conversation centres on the kids.
“They were talking about home life and the children—just like any other parents on a night out,” a local told PEOPLE.
“You were just struck by what a normal lovely couple they are.”
The friend also opened up about Kate’s hardiness when it comes to tackling anything and everything in life.
“When you see her behind closed doors with the children, she’s a very confident mum,” the source said.
“And she’s no pushover. The children get told off if they act up.”
Yes, beneath the glamour and intrigue of royal life, there’s no denying this family is wholesome as ever.
This week, Kensington Palace released the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s official Christmas card photo for 2020, giving royal fans a unique insight into their family life.
The image, captured in the British autumn at Anmer Hall this year, shows the young family looking cost whilst sitting around a pile of firewood.
In wooley jumpers and boots, the Cambridge family could be just like any other celebrating the festive season this year.
It seems the royals really aren’t so different to us.
