As the UK continues to endure a strict lockdown in an attempt to quell the rapid spread of Coronavirus, the Duchess of Cambridge has an uplifting message to share – and it’s perfectly timed.
As Children’s Mental Health Week kicks off in Britain, Kate surprised fans with a video from her very own backyard – from her very own camera phone at that.
Shared across Kensington Palace’s social media channels last night, the self-made video features Kate in her winter running gear, wearing a navy coloured Barbour jacket and a matching woollen hat with a bobble.
She tells her camera: “This year’s Children’s Mental Health Week is all about expressing yourself – about finding creative ways in which to share your thoughts, ideas and feelings.
“So whether that’s through photography, through art, through drama, through music or poetry – it’s finding those things that makes you feel good about yourself.”
The Duchess reiterated the importance of mental health, telling fans: “There has never been a more important time to talk about parental wellbeing and mental health too.”
“Find those ways in which to share your thoughts and your feelings or find someone to talk to because we really do need to be the very best versions of ourselves for the children in our care.”
Kate’s video is particularly apt given her passion and focus on children and the early years.
In fact, in 2020, the Duchess launched an entire survey based around under five-year-olds, and what can be done to give them greater support in various aspects of their lives.
The ‘5 Big Questions’ survey sparked a nation-wide conversation as findings outlined the places in which early childhood support and education were lacking.
A mother to three children herself, it’s no wonder Kate is so passionate about supporting the younger generation.
In the new video, she is seen in the property of her Norfolk country estate, a place she utilises for exercise and time outdoors.
She, Prince William and their kids Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two, have been isolating there since the beginning of the UK’s third strict lockdown.
Duchess Catherine has been keeping busy at work throughout the lockdown, taking part in various Zoom calls and speaking about various social causes, including showing her support for nurses working on the frontline.
We expect this to continue for the forseeable future – and perhaps the Duchess will find more ways to get creative with her appearances. A quick selfie video while out for a jog is certainly a first!
