Duchess Catherine has made a name for herself as a creative, innovative royal – her photography is testament to that.
While other royals rely solely on professional photographers to capture their milestone announcements, the mum-of-three has taken it upon herself to snap the gorgeous pics of her children and husband released for special occasions – and her talent isn’t going unnoticed by the pros.
Last month, a beautiful new image of Duchess Catherine surfaced as her Hold Still project with the National Portrait Gallery was announced.
The initiative invited people from all over the UK to send in their images capturing the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic.
With thousands received, the project has now been turned into a book – and in the intro to that book is the beautiful picture of Kate captured at her countryside home in Norfolk.
Taken by famed royal photographer Matt Porteous, the Duchess is seen in the autumnal golden light, smiling with a camera in her hands.
She wears a beautiful red knit with a white shirt underneath featuring a pie-crust collar.
Fans were immediately taken by the candid, natural snap – and for good reason. It turns out its perfect warm autumn theme was no mistake.
Speaking to HELLO!, Porteous himself confirmed that Kate did a lot of the work that went behind the photo.
“Catherine’s style very much suits the country setting we were in and the light was perfect for a few minutes before the sun set behind the trees,” he told the publication.
“Catherine has an incredible eye for style, she knows what will look best in these scenes which makes my life easy.”
In another snap, which was released in time for Christmas 2020, Porteous again captured the family in their natural element at their country home, where they spent much of lockdown.
Again, the lighting and colours of each of the royals’ outfits is perfect against the wooden backdrop – right down to Charlotte’s moss-toned jumper.
Adding of the 39-year-old’s knack for photography, Matt explained: “Catherine is an amazing photographer, we have both shared tips on location and talked about light, settings and styles.”
“[She] has an amazing eye for photos so will always point us in the right direction for light and backdrops… I’m always looking for the best light and will work with this in every scene.”
There’s no denying that – Kate has documented the essence of family life through her iconic pictures over the years.
Last year for example, her beautiful picture of Prince William for Father’s Day melted hearts around the world.
Seen surrounded by his children on a swing in their backyard, the natural shot was the perfect way to sum up how much love there is in this family.
And with Prince Louis’ birthday coming up next on April 23, we reckon we’ve got some new Kate-owned snaps to look forward to.
