As Christmas fast approaches and rumours of a “royal rift” continue to circulate, one can only imagine that tensions are high in the royal household.
And now, it appears that Christmas Day will be a lot more stressful for one particular member of the household than any other.
According to royal biographer, Christopher Wilson, Kate Middleton (a.k.a the Duchess of Cambridge) will find the festive day to be an “ordeal”.
In an interview with The Sun, he revealed that the mother of Prince George, five, Princess Charlotte, three, and Prince Louis, seven months, is a homebody “who loves being with her own immediate family at Christmas – off-duty and relaxed”.
After months of speculation, it seems that this year the Cambridge’s will spend the day at Sandringham with Prince Harry and his wife, mother-to-be Duchess Meghan.
“Sandringham Christmases can be an ordeal, even for those born royal — and generally those who’ve married into the family often can’t wait to get away,” Christopher revealed.
“As with many seasonal family gatherings, there can be undercurrents and the publicity over the Meghan clash won’t make things any easier between the girls.”
It was previously reported that the couples would likely spend Christmas separately this year, with the Cambridge’s opting to spend the day with the Middleton clan.
The separation only fuelled rumours of a rift between the two couples further and a source has revealed to The Mail: “Reports regarding Christmas are wrong. Everyone is in Norfolk this year.”
Information keeps being leaked of problems between the Cambridges and the Sussexes. And we can’t help but think: Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
Only recently it was reported by The Sun that the Duchess of Cambridge had told Meghan not to berate members of her team at Kensington Palace.

“Her and Kate fell out when she b**ked Kate’s staff,” a source told the publication.
The explosive allegations also came off the back of claims that Kate was left in tears following a tense bridesmaid dress fitting with Meghan for her daughter Princess Charlotte ahead of Meghan and Harry’s wedding.
However, The Mail reported that well placed sources within the royal fold had denied any major falling out.
So touchy is all of this around the two brothers and their burgeoning families that in an unusual move even the Palace has stepped in with an official statement in relation to suggested feuding between Kate and Meghan.
“This never happened,” the statement from the Palace read.
