As Duchess Catherine and Prince William touch down in Pakistan to commence their royal tour, many royal fans might be wondering where their young children are.

It seems that Prince George, 6, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 1, are staying back in London while their parents undertake a formal tour of the South Asian country, and there’s a very poignant reason why.

The highly anticipated tour of Pakistan has been labelled as the most “challenging” tour to date for Kate and William, according to Hello!.

Security concerns are at an all-time high for the royals in the foreign country, with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website also reiterating that tourists should avoid travelling to certain areas there unless absolutely necessary.

Threats of terrorist attacks and kidnapping in these locations are high, and a recent earthquake has also heightened security risks.

It is for this reason that one could understand why Kate and William decided to leave their young children at home during the royal tour.

There’s also another, rather practical reason as to why George and Charlotte are staying put in London while their parents travel – school.

The tricksy twosome are currently in the middle of their school term at Thomas’s Battersea, and they’re no doubt firmly settled into their school routines after the year kicked off at the start of September.

It’s also expected that the family’s nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo will be stepping in to look after the royal children in their parents absence.

According to Hello!, Kate’s mum and dad Carole and Michael will also likely look after their grandchildren whenever it’s needed.

The pair are well accustomed to helping out with babysitting duties where the Cambridge children are concerned.

In July, fans were ecstatic to spot George and Charlotte enjoying a fun day out with their grandparents, attending a Summer Fete at the Englefield Estate.

According to a source who was there, the pair were “having such fun going from stall to stall, playing on all the games.”

With this in mind, it would be safe to say Kate and Wills won’t have anything to worry about when it comes to their children this week – with fun school activities, doting grandparents and a nanny to look out for them, they’ll no doubt have a whale of a time!
