The world has been given its first glimpse into James Middleton and Alizée Thevenet’s secret French wedding just over a week after the pair said “I do”.
James, who is the brother to Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Pippa Matthews, wed his fiancée at the French village of Bormes-les-Mimosas on September 11.
Now Hello! Magazine has shared the first snap from inside the ceremony, revealing Alizée’s surprisingly low-key bridal gown.
Posting the world exclusive photo to Instagram, fans flooded the outlet’s profile with excited comments.
The image showed James and his new wife beaming in the dappled sunlight whilst standing in a white car covered in flowers and foliage.
James wore a cream-coloured suit with a blue shirt and tie, while the bride opted for a chic yet understated, dress that was also her “something borrowed”.
The off-the-shoulder frock that featured a fitted bodice and vertical seams running down the skirt along with delicate lacework along the neckline was worn by her new mother-in-law Carole Middleton on her own big day back in 1980.
“It fitted me perfectly and was exactly what I wanted. It always troubled me that wedding dresses are only worn once so it was amazing to give such a beautiful dress a second lease of life,” she told HELLO.
The bride kept her jewellery, hair and makeup understated as well, opting for a natural beauty look and simple twists in her loose blonde hair.
As for jewellery, Alizée wore only her ring and a set of dainty earrings as she beamed next to her new husband in the stunning wedding photo.
Speaking exclusively to Hello!, James opened up about the focus on his and Alizée’s big day.
“There are three important things for a good party: good music, good food and wine, and wonderful people,” he told the outlet.
“We were lucky enough to have all three.”
It was also revealed that the couple included two of their beloved pet dogs – Ella and Mabel – in the nuptials as four-legged flower girls.
The outlet also confirmed longstanding reports that Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge attended the ceremony with their three children.
James and Alizée chose to tie the knot at the town hall in Bormes-les-Mimosas before hosting a beachside reception at a restaurant at the edge of the Léoube Estate.
James told the outlet that he couldn’t be happier to finally be a married man after having to postpone the wedding twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It was wonderful to finally celebrate with family and friends despite the challenges of a global pandemic,” he said.
Our congratulations to the happy couple!
