Princess Mary could be about to have a lovesick teenager on her hands with the news Prince Christian has his first crush!
The Danish teenager, 17, was spotted cosying up to Italian heiress and close family friend Princess Maria Chiara di Borbone, 18, while on a day out with friends at the Monaco Grand Prix, and now insiders are speculating a royal romance could be on the cards.

(Image: Instagram)“Christian is just four months away from his 18th birthday and he’s interested in having a proper girlfriend, mostly to fend off wannabe fans, but he also likes the idea of having a real companion,” a Danish source tells Woman’s Day.
“Chiara ticks all the right boxes – she’s funny, intelligent and very well connected via her social media. Of course, Mary would love to see him date someone like Chiara, who, despite seeming to have a jet-set lifestyle, has never had a whiff of scandal, nor has her older sister Carolina.”
Princess Mary, 51, and her husband Prince Frederik, 55, are close friends with Chiara’s parents Prince Carlo, Duke of Castro – who is a godparent to their daughter Princess Josephine – and Princess Camilla, Duchess of Castro, who have homes in Monaco, St Tropez, Paris and Rome.
Princess Chiara was also spotted at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
(Image: Getty)“Mary and Camilla couldn’t be happier that the kids are hanging out, and they’ve been giggling together about the chance of the friendship blossoming into romance, if it hasn’t already, but of course, they’re doing their best not to interfere and let nature take its course,” the source spills, adding that Chiara’s Italian heritage is an advantage with the royal family actively encouraging their children to marry non Danish people.
“Christian is definitely taken with Chiara – it remains to be seen if she feels the same. For now, they get along well, both families approve and they have a lot of similar tastes in music, sports and even film.”
