As the nation counts down to Melbourne Cup tomorrow, our very own Australian-born royal, Princess Mary, has been embracing Denmark’s annual horse racing event.
On Sunday November 4th, Crown Princess Mary was joined by her husband Crown Prince Frederik and three out of their four children for the Hubertus Hunt in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Princess Mary, 46, looked effortlessly chic in a plaid overcoat teamed with an olive turtle neck and brown trousers.
During the brisk carriage ride, the mother-of-four added a grey pashmina and taupe-coloured beanie to keep cosy.
Prince Frederik, 50, cut a dapper figure in a navy jacket and a chequered scarf.
While their three children, Princess Isabella, 11, and twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, seven, rugged up in autumnal-themed colours.
The couple’s eldest child and heir to the throne, Prince Christian, 13, was absent from the event.
During the official family outing, Mary, Fred and the kids greeted well-wishers as they rode past on a horse-drawn carriage before taking to their balcony to watch the 13-kilometre race.
The Hubertus Hunt dates back to the 1900s and takes place on the first Sunday in November.
With over 150 riders, 40,000 spectators, it’s a traditional cross-country horse race which marks the end of hunting season.
Reporting in for their royal duties, Princess Isabella and Princess Josephine presented the girls’ category with their trophies.
The Danish Royal Family’s Instagram page also uploaded a sweet behind-the-scenes album from the day.
In one shot, Isabella cuddles up to a horse. In another incredible snap taken from the balcony, the three royal children can be seen looking out onto the large crowd of fans.
