While the now Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle was reportedly told to shut down her Instagram account before stepping into her new royal role, the Swedish royal family have just signed up to social media platform to share what life is really like for a royal family.
Sweden’s Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia’s Instagram account @prinsparet is now public, previously it existed as a private account, and it’s a must-follow.
“Welcome to our official Instagram account. As you can see, we have already posted photos for a while to give you an insight into our work, the tasks we carry out and above all the issues we are passionate about,” the couple captioned a selfie taken last month on Prince Carl’s 39th birthday. “Hope you want to follow us!”
The account dates back to June 2017 and features candid shots of the royal family juggling family life with royal duties. Highlights include private snaps of their gorgeous children Alexander, 2, and Gabriel, 8 months, behind-the-scenes photos from royal engagements plus sweet selfies of the Prince and Princess.
Previously, the couple spoke of juggling royal duties with the realities of parenting — among them, “diaper changes and sleepless nights.”
“We try to create as much family time as possible in the evenings, with bathing and getting a routine,” Sofia said in an interview with Kupé magazine, as translated by Hello!.
“But ask me again in a few months. We have had small glimpses that it’s tougher with two. But there is also twice as much love.”
Up until now, fans of the Swedish royal family could follow their whereabouts and receive updates only through the the Swedish Royal Court’s official Instagram account. However now the genetically blessed family have their own account, we’ll be staying tuned for more special moments to drop.
