Prince Carl Philip and Sofia share happy snap with new baby

The proud dad also revealed that he cried during the birth.

The Swedish royal family have announced the birth of a new baby prince.

The proud dad, Prince Carl Philip shared personal details about the emotional birth with the press just hours after Princess Sofia gave birth.

When asked if he had cried during the birth, the prince replied, โ€œYes, actually. Of course. Couldnโ€™t stop.โ€

โ€œFor me and my wife, this is obviously a great day with a lot of emotion,โ€ he told the press conference at Danderyd Hospital in Stockholm.

โ€œWords cannot describe.โ€

Carl Philp said that it is too early to say who the baby looks like, but he did reveal that the newborn is dark-haired.

King Carl XVI Gustaf cancelled a planned trip, opting instead to visit the young family before at the hospital.

โ€œItโ€™s marvellous, everything went well,โ€ the king told the Swedish newspaper Expressen.

โ€œThe important thing is that Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip and their little son are all thriving. The boy looks cute, very nice.โ€
