From royal Duchess to infomercial queen!
She was once one of the most watched and most talked about women in the world, but it seems Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, has made a career change.
The Duchess shocked viewers when she made an appearance on American shopping channel, QVC, to promote a blender, which she claimed helped her lose weight.
The 55-year-old has made a claim on her independence, having recently moved out of her ex-husband, Prince Andrew’s, royal mansion. She hass settled into the equally lavish private £13m Swiss chalet in the Alps – and now it’s clear what bankrolled that move!
The Duchess appeared on QVC praising the Fusion Xcelerator blender which retails for a reasonable $59.99, discussing the fine qualities possessed by her blender of choice. The former-royal wowed us with a very animated recipe demonstration.
Moira would have been proud of Sarah, who advertised like a true commercial pro, as she spoke candidly about why she turned to the Fusion Xcelerator.
“I ballooned to about 192lbs. I saw a picture of myself and I needed to change my life and I went in search of the perfect way to change my life,” the former-Weight Watchers spokeswoman admitted.
“I’ve made a few mistakes, put on weight and done this, that and the other and now because of the American people, I wanted to be really honest with them.”
She went on to credit the blender with the results of her weight loss, revealing that changing her diet helped to rehabilitate her image.
“No longer am I the ‘Duchess of Pork’ … or fat frumpy Fergie… It broke my heart,” said Sarah.
But those of you who are shocked at the sight of a member of the British Royal family flogging cheap blenders on the shopping channel should probably get used to it.
Sarah’s new and lucrative public appearances are part of her new initiative, Duchess Discoveries, which is a platform where Sarah discusses her favourite items and purchases.
On the Duchess Discoveries website, it showcases the products that Sarah personally endorses, such as the Fusion blender, and a $119.99 hairbrush, the ‘Perfecter Ultra’.
No stranger to endorsements, Sarah has previously been the face of Weight Watchers and has also launched her own line of candles and tea bags.
So you might want to get used to seeing Sarah starring in infomercials. Something tells us you shouldn’t expect to see Duchess Catherine hosting a Tupperware party anytime soon!
