Duchess Kate hits the RAF for Valentine’s Day

It might have been the most romantic day of the year but a royal’s work is never done!

On Tuesday, the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out for an engagement at the Royal Air Force base in Cambridgeshire.

Never one to miss a sartorial opportunity, the 35-year-old chose to wear a stunning ensemble fit for the year’s most romantic of days.

A scarlet red, military-inspired peacoat by designer Philosphy Di Lorenzo Serafini made the cut for the mother-of-two who paired the statement-making blazer with a black turtleneck, jeans and heart shaped Kiki McDonough Lauren earrings.

Kate also chose to sweep her signature (and always-immaculate) blow-dry back into a chic ponytail midway through the hands-on occasion.

We recognise those facial expressions! Charlotte and her sweet pout are identical to her mother’s.

Easy does it…

The Duchess seemed to handle the unusual terrain with ease.

She even managed to wear a pair of heeled boots!

We’re sure Prince William, a former pilot, was very pleased with his wife visit to the RAF.

It’s the little things… Kate even opted for heart-shaped earrings for the Valentine’s Day engagement.

The Duchess visited the RAF base in her capacity as Royal Patron and Honorary Air Commandant of the Air Cadet organisation.

And while she didn’t leave the ground, Kate hoped in and out of planes as she participated in several exercises with the cadets and even tried her hand at the virtual simulator.

The appearance marks Catherine’s third visit to the RAF since the Duke of Edinburgh passed his patronage to the Duchess after 63 years serving as Air Commodore-in-Chief.

Ahead of the visit, Kensington Palace released a statement which read, “The week acts as an initial ‘camp experience’ for cadets who are in their first six months of membership.”

“Her Royal Highness will join the cadets as they view a Tutor aircraft, and participate in a personal development training session.”

The duchess takes to the skies! Well, sort of…

The 35-year-old was all smiles for the hands-on occasion.

Kate’s red peacoat was the perfect nod to Valentine’s Day.

We’re not sure how she pulls it off, but Catherine even looks incredible mid-air!

Kate’s handsome hubby Prince William, who is a former emergency pilot for the East Anglian Air Ambulance, was not present at the occasion but would no doubt have appreciated the nod to his great passion.

However, we’ll soon see the loved-up pair together as they ready themselves for a two-day trip to Paris in March.

The trip abroad will mark the first official royal visit by the couple to the City of Lights since the untimely death of William’s mother, Princess Diana.

Wills was just 15 and his brother Prince Harry only 12, when Princess Diana was tragically killed in a car crash in Paris on 31 August 1997. She was just 36 years old.

While the tour will be the Duke and Duchess’s first official visit to Paris, William has previously travelled to Paris on a handful of unofficial trips.

Though, any trip to the French capital is undoubtedly an emotional experience for the second in line to the throne.
