The Duchess of Cambridge has dropped by the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, ahead of the annual event’s opening to the public.
The royal mother-of-two chose to wear a mid-length dress designed by Rochas for the occasion, which was fittingly patterned with a bright-white floral motif. She accented the look with nude court shoes and emerald drop earrings, visible beneath a stylish side-swept ponytail.
Kate, who last year attended the event with husband Prince William, was treated to a guided tour of the show’s famed horticultural creations.
Of particular interest would have been the much-hyped creation from Professor Nigel Dunnett. Set within an “urban landscape,” the controversial offering features tower block and street art — a first for the 104-year-old show.
She also viewed the David Austen Rose exhibit where she saw the ‘William and Catherine Rose,’ which was named in 2012 following the couple’s royal wedding the preceding year.
After touring the gardens, the young royal attended a private reception alongside other notable attendees including the Queen and Prince Philip, who recently announced his upcoming retirement from royal duties.
Other members of the royal family on hand at the event were Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex, Princess Eugenie, alongside boyfriend Jack Brooksbank, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and Princess Alexandra.
The event, which hosts more than 500 exhibitors and is expected to attract some 165,000 visitors, will also draw a wealth of celebrity guests with the likes of Gemma Arterton and Dame Judi Dench turning out for the opening day.
The event comes just two days after many members of the royal family celebrated Pippa Middleton’s wedding to James Matthews. And the nuptials were something to behold…
Every single element was perfection (especially Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s royal duties!) and now more details from the exciting event are emerging.

The 33-year-old, who wore a bespoke cap-sleeved gown designed by Giles Deacon during the ceremony, changed her outfit during the second reception.
An insider told Spanish publication, Hola!, that the new bride surprised guests when she arrived in a stunning a Pronovias gown.
While the Spanish bridal house have yet to confirm the exciting development, it has been reported that Pippa wore a “white, flowing dress”.
During her 2011 big day, Kate famously opted for an outfit change. While her Sarah Burton designed Alexander McQueen lace gown was perfect for the official portion of the day, the Duchess let her down in another Sarah Burton frock for the evening reception.
Following their picture-perfect wedding (seriously, it was like something out of a British rom-com), the newlyweds drove out of St Mark’s Church in an E-Type Jaguar.
Waving to the crowd of well-wishers and guests in the vintage car gave us major flashbacks to Prince William and Duchess Catherine doing the same thing in an Aston Martin sports car on their big day back in 2011.
It may not have technically been a royal wedding, but it was a day fit for a queen — congratulations again to the happy couple!
