As the Queen gears up to celebrate her 90th birthday, British network ITV will be airing an exciting program in honour of Her Majesty.
The special series will be full of familiar faces including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, who will all be paying tribute to Queen Elizabeth.
The Queen At Ninety (which is a working title at the moment), will be a two-hour long film featuring interviews from many key figures in Britain’s longest-reigning monarch’s life.
The royals are set to honour the Queen in a new doco-film.
While excitement is rife for the royal milestone, fans of Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s mum are delighted to finally see her sit-down in her first ever interview as a royal.
The last time Catherine spoke to the press in such a way was during her engagement interview in 2010 with her then-fiancé, Prince William (watch in the player above). The candid chat, which was conducted by ITV’s Tom Bradby, showed just how in love the couple were.
Since then, the mother-of-two has shied away from public speaking save for her rare address at the Place2Be Headteacher Conference in November last year.
The producers, Oxford Film and Television, have been granted close access to the work of Her Majesty and other key royals across the UK and overseas during the last year.
“It’s a remarkable story of an extraordinary life which in so many ways reflects the changing face of the nation,” Jo Clinton-Davis, ITV’s controller of factual, who co-commissioned the film revealed.
“As she reaches her 90th birthday, this film aims to offer a fresh insight into our monarch’s life and work.”
This will be Catherine’s very first interview as a royal!
It is expected that the royals will be joined by both national and international figures to speak about the British icon.
No doubt the exciting program will uncover never seen before footage of the Queen and her eldest is already getting a taste.
Meanwhile during a visit to the Send a Cow charity in Bath this week, Prince Charles came across a surprise snap of his mother from when she was just a little Princess.
Charles was delighted to unearth a snap of his mother during a visit to Bath.
“I’ll see if Mama remembers it and remembers what she was wearing when it was taken,” Charles quipped as he looked at the image.
The 1939 black-and-white photo shows a 13-year-old Princess Elizabeth, with short wavy hair. In the vintage snap, which was taken by Canadian photographer Lawrence Audrain, the Princess wears a short-sleeved dress with three small bows while her hair is styled to perfection in a sweet bob.
It’s believed the photo never became an official royal image because the Queen Mother deemed it too informal.
No doubt the documentary about the Queen will uncover many delightful images and stories like that!
