The cover shot is perhaps the most striking as it shows the mother-of-two in a khaki fedora, relaxed and smiling – her famous engagement ring sparkling just as bright as her radiant smile.

In another image, Catherine looks at ease in a striped red top.

The stunning photographs, which have been released in collaboration with The National Portrait Gallery, are to commemorate the centenary issue of glossy and the full shoot will be available when the new issue goes on sale on Thursday, May 5.

The images were taken by revered photographer Josh Olins in Norfolk and shared on The Royal Family’s Facebook page over the weekend.

A spokesperson for the 34-year-old explained Catherine loved participating in the shoot: “The Duchess was delighted to play a part in celebrating the centenary of an institution that has given a platform to some of the most renowned photographers in this country’s history.”

“The Duchess had never taken part in a photography shoot like this before. She hopes that people appreciate the portraits with the sense of relaxed fun with which they were taken.”
