Looking lovely in the black long-sleeve dress, which features a crystal encrusted fern on the shoulder, the Duchess and Duke of Cambridge delighted the crowd, greeting guests and fellow dignitaries on arrival.
The highlight of tonight’s event will be the unveiling of the Queen’s portrait by a New Zealand artist Nick Cuthell.
Prince William made his first speech of the tour beginning with a Maori greeting and thanks the Governor-General for allowing his family to stay.
“I hope George doesn’t keep you up. He can be very vocal at 3am. I swear I heard him doing the haka this morning. He’s a bonny lad and I’m fairly sure he will be a prop forward,” Prince William joked.
