But the Danish royal couple have shown their followers a rare and intimate glimpse into their home life by sharing a photo of themselves relaxing in front of the TV to watch a televised production of theatre production, Højskolesangbogen, scheduled to be performed on Saturday night.

Crown Princess Mary, 48, and her husband Crown Prince Frederik, 51, shared two contrasting images of themselves.

Whilst the first depicted the couple dressed in their royal regalia at Copenhagen’s Royal Theatre back in 2004, the second showed the couple tuning in to the theatre production from the comfort of their home with their casually-dressed feet up.

“A different and slightly more relaxed…well…a much more relaxed way to go the theatre,” the post was captioned.

“Sitting at home on the couch can of course never replace going to the theatre. But it’s still wonderful that we can have a theatre experience at home at this time. We wish everyone who, like us, are watching the Royal Theatre’s setup of Højskolesangbogen online, have a great time.”

Eagle-eyed fans were also able to catch a glimpse of a black-and-white family photo that features Crown Prince Frederik and one of their sons, presumably their eldest Prince Christian.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen into the Danish royal palace. In a video for National Children’s Day, Crown Princess Mary shared an up-close look at her home office space and fans noticed four black-and-white portraits featuring her four children.

The images of Prince Christian, now aged 14, Princess Isabella, 13, and nine-year-old twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine depict the four royal children as toddlers and infants.

Whilst in lockdown, Crown Princess Mary has been working from home to figure out how to support those in-need during the coronavirus pandemic.

The royal mum-of-four’s charitable oragnisation The Mary Foundation has found that consequences of the pandemic have hit straight into many of the challenges faced within the foundation, that shines a light on bullying and wellbeing, domestic violence and loneliness.

“There is a risk that more people will feel lonely, domestic violence escalating, and isolation and physical distance will go beyond the well-being of children and young people,” the palace wrote on Instagram.
