Camilla’s son Tom Parker-Bowles has given a revealing interview about his stepfather Prince Charles.
Tom’s teenage years were blighted his mother’s scandalous affair with Charles, who was married to Princess Diana at the time, but despite the unwanted attention he received from the paparazzi and members of the public, he adores his stepfather and thinks he will make a magnificent King.
“I don’t give a crap what anyone in the press says he is a man of warmth and intelligence and humanity and I think he will, if it ever happens, he will make a fantastic king,” Tom told A Current Affair last night.
Tom said Charles and Camilla are blissfully happy and have a strong and loving marriage.
“All you care about with your parents is that they are happy and my mother is exceptionally happy at the moment and I’ve always adored my stepfather and he’s always been a kind and good and lovely man,” Tom said.
Tom admitted however, that there were times growing up when his mother’s notoriety caused problems.
“When it first started we thought it was entirely normal growing up to have five or six paparazzi hanging around – we would go up there with binoculars and say ‘oh look mummy there’s five today’,” he said.
“It was entirely normal to be chased at high speed by these people on motorbikes or cars.
“They’re bullies half of these people and they made you very angry and when you were 15 or 16 and you’re coming out of an airport and they were really winding you up and all i wanted to do was smack them in the face and beat the hell out of them but you couldn’t do that.”
